   All of your drawings are nice, neat and I like your style.
   Only, I am missing real spontaneity I would expect on a day to day basis like this.
   Could it be that all of your drawings are being made with the idea of “have to be nice to be published” in the back of your mind?

     An interesting thought, but no, I put them on the blog in order to keep them together as they are distributed around a number of different sketchbooks depending on where I am when I draw. I hadn’t really expected to have an audience for them. Also I am very busy so I often do have to plan ahead to be able to get somewhere early to do some drawing, and I have a running of list of drawing ideas to use when I’m stuck. Could someone be both spontaneous and neat? Spontaneity isn’t my main aim I have to say!

     Drawing is so many things. We first have to lose any preconceived idea of what it should be or we’ll never draw.

       Yes, I agree, it’s so often when people have a fixed idea that they then measure themselves and others harshly against it!
