Continued development of elephants
Pencil, coloured pencil
9 x 19cm
I’ve proofed these elephant prints twice now and I think this third version is ‘the one’ although I can’t be sure til I print it. It’s quite a challenge to get the right combinations of tone so that the image and the patterns work together well.

Sketching along the canals of Birmingham
Pencil, pen, watercolour
A5

Today I went on a course run by the RBSA and taught by artist, Wayne Attwood. We walked along the canals, stopping to draw as we went. I saw lots that I’d like to back and draw in the future. There’s a lot of machinery to look at and try to understand that makes drawing the canal very challenging. The atmosphere was lovely – boats going along, people and their dogs, and we were very lucky with the weather.

Preston Deanery Church, Northants
Pencil and watercolour
A5
Sometime last year I drove along the road between Quinton and Great Houghton and glimpsed this unusual view of Preton Deanery Church. Finally today I found somewhere I could stop and draw it!
